The video
conference, initiated by the World Bank, was held between the World Bank team
and the management officials of beneficiaries, PIU staff, coordinating
consultants, and the members of the working group at the World Bank Ulaanbaatar office on October 20, 2020.
The purpose of the video conference was to discuss project implementation
status and launch of the 2021 work plan preparation process.
Ms. Carolina Vaira, the World Bank Task Team leader, has presented the following information during the video conference:
· Medium-term report findings - Main and intermediate result indicators;
· Challenging reform areas that require special attention of the implementing agencies, challenging project implementation areas – procurement processes;
· Brief guidance on the next step for the annual supervision mission (virtual);
· Format and proposed schedule;
To productively
facilitate the conference, each
coordinating consultant and representative of the beneficiary agencies prepared
and
presented 3 PowerPoint slides summarizing 1) progress towards completing the
planned activities for 2020; 2) key activities to focus for the 2021 WP; 3) risky areas/ activities that
might not get launched in the remaining
implementation timeframe of the
project.
Task Team
leader Ms. Carolina Vaira and component leaders of the World Bank team inquired and clarified about the work
plan for 2020 and provided comments and recommendations
on the work plan of 2021.
The
coordinating consultants and members of the working group agreed to introduce the information and recommendations shared during the
discussion to the relevant authorities and to submit the draft work plan for 2021 to the Project
Implementation Unit within the agreed timeframe in November.
The video
conference was a professional, informative activity
that provided practical recommendations and guidance for the forthcoming activities.

Concerning the Strengthening Governance in Mongolia project, which was completed on February 28, 2023, the World Bank working group to develop the project completion report had an official meeting with Project Implementation Unit (PIU) and implementing organizations on March 30, 2023. The purpose of the working group meeting is to review the implementation of the project, the results achieved, and the fulfillment of the project indicators. |

Within the framework of the European Union financed, World Bank managed “Strengthening Governance in Mongolia” project, the Ministry of Finance, in compliance with the “Sustainable Development Vision 2030” and the “Action Program of the Government of Mongolia for 2016-2020”, has approved and implemented the Public Financial Management (PFM) Reform Strategy and the Action Plan for 2018-2022. The overarching objective of the strategy was to improve governance and achieve effective resource allocation and efficient public service delivery. The implementation status of the PFM Action Plan is indicated as “Certain results have been achieved” at the rate of 85 percent. |

The Ministry of Finance Mongolia has developed and successfully launched the Intermediate Service Platform (ISP) in 2022 within the framework of the Strengthening Governance in Mongolia Project. The main purpose of the system is to provide a possibility of information /web services/ exchange between the independent systems of the Ministry of Finance and other organizations in a easy and flexible way. In addition, it is solving the issues of overlapping connections and development between many information systems and organizations, transferring them to a unified standard, making it has no complexity, and more secure. |
