21st World Congress of Accountants was held in Mumbai, Republic of India on November 18-21, 2022. About 10,000 certified accountants from the more than 120 countries had participated at the congress. The congress provided opportunity to explore a range of themes including role of accounting profession in enabling sustainability; global trend in accounting, auditing, corporate governance, and taxation; global collaboration for inclusive growth; nurturing innovation, fintech and start-ups; growing importance of digital technologies; future ready profession; integrity, ethical leadership and trust; and strengthening public financial management. 

One of the important topics discussed at the 21st congress was the issues faced in public financial management. It was emphasized that improving public financial management and adopting accrual basis international public sector accounting standards in public sector still remain challenging tasks in countries around the world, especially in developing countries and issues faced in public financial management that need to be solved near future were discussed.  

Traditionally, the issues discussed at the congress are the issues that will be the focus of attention of the economic sector internationally in the next four years. 

Participation in the 21st World Congress of Accountants within the support of the Strengthening the fiscal and financial stability project was the important activity in terms of receiving information on the current and future global trends of the industry from leading international experts, exchanging opinions, and learning the best practices of accounting development in other countries.
